SALISBURY, Md. - Santiago Fidel, Jr., 45, of Salisbury, died Friday, August 13, 2010, at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury. Born March 3, 1965 in the Dominican Republic, he was the son of Santiago Fidel, Sr. of the Dominican Republic, the late Antonia Garcia Fidel, and his step mother, Lidia Fidel. He was a faithful member of the Emmanuel Wesleyan Church. He owned and operated the Instant Shoe Repair Shop in Salisbury at the Centre & Rehoboth Beach for the past 15 years. He enjoyed his work and supporting his family. He looked forward to one day retiring and traveling with his wife. Santiago was a dedicated Christian who loved serving Christ and helping others. He is also survived by his loving wife, Ana Virginia Aquino Fidel; four children, Angel Manuel Fidel and his wife, Linissa of New York, N.Y., Joseph Santiago Fidel, Daniel Isaias Fidel, and Seir G. Fidel, all of Salisbury; two grandchildren, Malik Noah Whaley and Carron Isaias Whaley, both of Salisbury; a future grandchild expected in January of next year; and four brothers and three sisters, all of Dominican Republic. A funeral service will be held Thursday, August 19, 2010, at 4 p.m., at the Emmanuel Wesleyan Church with a visitation from 10 to noon and then from 2 to 4 p.m. Rev. Thomas C. Bunting will officiate.
