Thompson, 66 VIOLA - Sandra Stacy Thompson, age 66, of Viola passed away Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2013, after a lifelong battle with heart disease. She peacefully passed away with her children, family, and close friends at her bedside. Mrs. Thompson was born November 8, 1947 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the adopted daughter of the late William Graham Stacy and Dorothy Helen Stacy. She married her lifelong love and best friend on October 10, 1970 Robert W. Thompson Sr. She worked for the Laurel School District for 18 years as a Food Service Supervisor. Mrs. Thompson retired in 2007 after many dedicated years as a Food Service Supervisor for Caesar Rodney School District. The majority of her time was spent enjoying her family and spoiling her beloved grandchildren. Some of her favorite activities included visiting the beach, traveling and camping with her family, creating hand made cards, and sewing. She was a member of the Felton United Methodist Church and the Felton United Methodist Women. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert W. Thompson Sr. in 2008. She is survived by her son, Robert W. Thompson Jr. and his wife Jodi of Greenbrier, Tenn.; daughter, Stacy Thompson Bishop and her husband Brian of Felton; grandchildren, Troy Andrew Bishop and Riley Anne Bishop; and her best friend "Lily" her beloved Labradoodle; and many adoring family and friends. Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014 at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (Rt.10), Dover. Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Interment will be in Sharon Hills Memorial Park. There will be a gathering after at the Felton Fire Company were everyone is invited. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to the Delaware Humane Society, 701 A. Street, Wilmington, DE 19801, Attn: Sandy Leigh. Letters of condolences may be sent and guest book signed at www.torbertfuneral.com.
