Samuel C. Burrows Jr.

LEIPSIC - Samuel C. "Sonny" Burrows Jr., of Leipsic, passed away on Monday, July 11, 2011, at Kent General Hospital, Dover. He was 65. Mr. Burrows was born Aug. 5, 1945, in Taylors Bridge, the son of the late Samuel C. Burrows, Sr. and Mary Marshall Burrows. Sonny retired after 33 years as a Commercial Crabber. He loved hunting and fishing and enjoyed spending time with the Leipsic Fire Company, where he served as a life member for over 50 years. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Sandy; and an infant brother. He is survived by his loving wife of 15 years, Teresa; five daughters, Laura Robinson and her husband Jesse of Georgetown, Jeanette Allen of Oklahoma, April Hebert and her husband David of Dover, Lindsey Roman and her husband Carlos of Dover, and Kimberly Burrows of Leipsic; a son, Samuel C. Burrows, III and his wife Kimberly of Milford; 4 brothers, Robert Burrows of Leipsic, Frank Gorski and his wife Shelly of Bowers Beach, Harry Burrows and his wife Beth of Portsmouth, Va., and Isaac Burrows and his wife Elva of Smyrna; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. A viewing will be held on Sunday, July 17, 2011, from 1 to 3 p.m., in the Faries Funeral Chapel located at 29 S. Main Street in Smyrna. Funeral services will begin at 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the Leipsic Volunteer Fire Company, 318 Main Street, Leipsic, DE 19901; or to the American Lung Association, 1021 Gilpin Ave. Suite 202, Wilmington, DE 19801.
