Salvador Congzon Penserga, 68

BRIDGEVILLE - Salvador Congzon Penserga of Bridgeville died Monday, Dec. 17, 2007, in his home. He was 68.

He was born April 21, 1939, to the late Vicenta Congzon and Macario Penserga of Ormoc City, Philippines.

Dr. Penserga received his medical degree at the University of Santo Tomas, Manila.

He married Alicia Jakosalem in 1965 and they immigrated to the U.S. to further their medical education.

Dr. Penserga resided and worked as a doctor in Albany, N.Y. and Wilmington, before moving to Bridgeville in 1972, where opened a private practice and served as a surgeon at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital in Seaford for more than 20 years.

He was a longtime member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Seaford.

Dr. Penserga also enjoyed spending time with his family, working on his computer and photography.

He was preceded in death, by his wife, Alicia Penserga, in 2006.

He is survived by a daughter, Luella Penserga of Oakland, Calif.; two sons, Nelson Penserga and his wife Jennifer of South Riding, Va. and Benjamin Penserga of Bridgeville; a sister, Leonora Redona; two brothers Rudolfo Penserga and Ruben Penserga, all in the Philippines; along with many nieces, nephews and friends.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Friday in Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 532 Stein Highway, Seaford, where friends may call one hour prior.

The Rev. John McKenna will officiate.

Interment will follow at Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery.

Instead of flowers, donations may be made in Salvador Penserga's memory to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church Building Fund, 532 Stein Highway, Seaford, DE 19973.

Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Hardesty Chapel, Bridgeville.
