S. Virginia (Everett) Hofer, 80

WILMINGTON - S. Virginia (Everett) Hofer, formerly of Wilmington, passed away on Friday, Feb. 6, 2009, in Willow Valley Lakes Manor, Willow St., Pa. Born in Church Hill, Md., Virginia was the daughter of the late, Mr. and Mrs. Earle J. Everett Sr., and graduated from Church Hill, Md., High School in 1945. She graduated from the Delaware Hospital School of Nursing in 1949 and in various departments at the former Delaware Hospital. Virginia was devoted to her family and enjoyed gardening. She was an active member of Concord Presbyterian Church, where she served as a deacon, a Sunday school teacher and a member of the Fairfax Socialization Group, a mental health support group. Virginia was also a committee woman for the Republican Party and worked various jobs at the polls. Virginia is survived by her husband, Howard L., they celebrated their 58th anniversary on April 15, 2008. She is also survived by her son, David A. and his wife Julia of Newark; a granddaughter, Andrea S. Danby and her husband F. Scott; a great-grandson, Franklin Scott Danby Jr., all of Cochranville, Pa.; a sister, Alice Harrington and her husband George, of Brookhaven, Pa; a brother, Samuel T. Everett of Key West, Fla.; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by a son, John H.; a daughter, Susan; a sister, Margaret R. Reynolds and a brother, Earle J. Everett Jr. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday in the Chapel at Concord Presbyterian Church, 1800 Fairfax Blvd. Wilmington, DE 19803, where friends may call after 1 p.m. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Concord Presbyterian Church or Hospice of Lancaster County, P.O.
