BRIDGEVILLE - Ruthie Lassiter-McLendon, age 53, of Bridgeville, wife of John McLendon, daughter of he late Rufus Tingle and Alice Lassiter; passed away suddenly on Friday, Oct. 17, 2010, at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital, Seaford. For over twenty years she was the owner of the "Mother Hen" Daycare, operating out of her home in Bridgeville. Children were the loves of her life. She was a devout Christian who was a member of the Mother Board at Word Alive Kingdom Ministries in Harrington. She dearly loved her husband, children, grandchildren, family and friends with all of her heart. Ruthie enjoyed volunteering at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital and at the Bridgeville Public Library. Her daycare children as well as her own children and grandchildren were "Angels" as she would often state, sent to her by God. In addition to her husband of 21 years, John, she is also survived by one son, James (Leanne) Lassiter, Richmond, Va.; daughters, Margetta (Julius) Hardwick, Bridgeville, Latasha (Leroy) Husser, Smyrna, Jonnell (Vinod) Singh, Bridgeville, Demerris McLendon, Milford, and Jonette Prescott, Bridgeville; one sister, Doris Cannon (who stepped in and became a surrogate mother and father to Ruthie, from the age of 17 at the death of Ruthie's parents); ten grandchildren and a host of other family members and friends. Funeral service will be 2 p.m., Saturday, at the United Bible Deliverance Center, Laurel, where the Apostle Sara Cannon will deliver the eulogy. Friends may call from noon to 2 p.m. at the church. There will be no additional viewing after the eulogy. Interment will be in Middleford Cemetery, Middleford. Professional services of compassion and concern by: Deborah E. Harris-Nock Funeral Services, Laurel, DE. E-mail letters and messages of condolences to: Amberharris8604@peoplepc.com
