SEAFORD - Ruth M. Clarke of Seaford died Sunday, Dec. 24, 2006, in Genesis Seaford Center. She was 83.

Mrs. Clarke was born Jan. 23, 1923, in Yonkers, N.Y., daughter of the late Julius and Luise (Kohlorat) Wyhof.

She was a graduate of The College of New Rochelle in New Rochelle, N.Y., where she was an art major and a member of Daubers, Alpha, Alpha Interracial Group, Athletic Group, Athletic Association and Mission Crusade.

Mrs. Clarke worked in the art department of Geyer Newell and Ganger, a New York City advertising agency. She also worked as a receptionist and eyeglass model for a local optometrist. She worked for Jerry Fields Inc.

She became acquainted with Bob Clarke through his work with Mad Magazine, and after the death of their respective spouses, they married.

Shortly after they retired to Seaford.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Richard Murphy.

She is survived by her loving husband, Bob Clarke; two nephews, John of Sanford, N.C., and Peter of Scarborough, N.Y.; and a niece, Patsy Norman of San Marcos, Calif.; and many nieces and nephews on her husband"s side.

A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Jan. 23 in Cranston Funeral Home, 300 Shipley St., Seaford.

Instead of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to charity of one"s choice.
