CLAYTON - Ruth J. Mood, of Clayton, passed away Monday, Dec. 1, 2008, surrounded by her family, in the Silver Lake Center Dover. She was 77. Mrs. Mood was born Nov. 29, 1931, in Smyrna, he daughter of the late Charles E. and Agnes Cox Newnum. She worked as a waitress for several restaurants in the Smyrna-Clayton area, retiring from the Wagon Wheel in Smyrna. Mrs. Mood was a member of St. Polycarp's Roman Catholic Church and the American Legion David C. Harrison Post 14 Ladies Auxiliary, both in Smyrna. In her earlier years, her favorite hobbies were bowling, traveling, watching game shows and bingo. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Donald F. Mood Jr. She is survived by her husband, Donald F. Mood; four sons, Mark S., Christopher C. and Michael A. Mood all of Smyrna and J. Jeff Mood of Germany; a sister, Irma West of Clayton and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday in the Faries Funeral Chapel, 29 South Main St. Smyrna, where friends may call one hour prior to the services. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery Smyrna. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the American Diabetes Association, 100 West 10th St., Suite 1002 Wilmington, DE 19801. Arrangements are by Faries Funeral Directors and Crematorium Inc., 29 South Main St., Smyrna. Condolence may be sent by visiting www.fariesfuneralhome.com.
