Dover - Sadly, Ruth Elizabeth Stokes Taylor beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin, and friend to many passed away on Friday, Jan. 12, 2018 at her home with family.
Ruth was a native of Suffolk, Va., but she raised her family in Seaford and Dover. "Ruthie" gained an impeccable reputation during her 38 years at Delaware State University, working in various positions, primarily the Office of the President. She was a mentor to many, a confidante, an honest, trustworthy person with a kind nature and pleasing personality.
Left behind to cherish her memory forever are her daughters, Paula Stokes, Kermethia Stokes Armstrong (Gilbert), and Cammi Taylor; three grandchildren; and one great-grandson; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A Celebration of Ruth's life will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 20, 2018, at Frontline Ministries, 516 Jefferic Blvd., Dover, DE 19901. There will be a one hour viewing before the service. There will be a two hour viewing Friday, January 19, 2018 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Bennie Smith Funeral Home, 717 West Division Street, Dover, DE 19904. Services have been entrusted to Bennie Smith Funeral Home. Log on to www.benniesmithfuneral.com to view tributes and leave condolences.
