OCEAN VIEW - Ruth B. Tyre, of Ocean View, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2008, at her daughter's home, surrounded by her loving family. She was 72.
She was born in Milford on Aug. 4, 1935, daughter to the late Asher and Alice (Callaway) Burbage.
Ruth was a fun loving person who seemed never to meet a stranger and was family oriented.
She was co ntent at being home because she enjoyed baking, sewing and keeping her home in perfect order.
Ruth loved the water and taught many the art of seining a clam and crabbing.
She was a member of the Ocean View Church of Christ and was also an amazing free hand painter.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Herbert and Jack Burbage; and sister, Grace Robinson Mitchell.
She is survived by her loving husband who would have celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary on April 24, Lemuel E. Tyre; four children, Jeffrey L. Tyre and wife Sheila of Melbourne Beach, Fla., Patrick D. Tyre and wife Karen of Selbyville, Toni L. Clogg and husband Michael of Frankford and Tracy A. Tyre and wife Collette of Frankford; sister, Jean Burton of Frankford; brother, Joseph Burbage and wife Mary Lou of Wilmington; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Friday in the Ocean View Church of Christ, where friends may call after 1 p.m.
Instead of flowers, the family suggest memorial contributions in Ruth's name to the Ocean View Church of Christ, P.O. Box 1247, Ocean View, DE 19970.
