CHESTERTOWN, Md. - Ruth Amelia Harrington Gsell, of Chestertown, died on Monday, Jan. 28, 2008, in Chestertown Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was 83.
She was born on Jan. 10, 1925, in Queen Anne's County, the daughter of the late John Thomas and Madge Amelia Collison Harrington.
She was a graduate of Centreville High School, class of 1943 and in 1944 she married Clifford Gsell.
The resided in Chestertown where, Mrs. Gsell worked with the Fox's Department Store, the Country Store, and The Chestertown Newsstand for over 15 years.
She was a member of the Golden Oldies in Betterton.
Mrs. Gsell was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother she also enjoyed gardening.
She is predeceased by her husband, Cliff in 1999; a son, James in 2007; and her brother, John Edward Harrington.
She is survived by a daughter, Patricia Unruh of Chestertown; sons, Joseph Gsell of Chestertown, Thomas Gsell of Kennedyville, and William Gsell of Salisbury; sisters, Evelyn Speck of Centreville, Julia Clark of Chestertown, Louise Harrison of Oklahoma and Betty Whitler of Hurlock; brother, James Harrington of Preston; 12 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday in Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, 130 Speer Road, Chestertown, where relatives and friends may call one hour prior.
Interment will be in Chester Cemetery.
