Ruth A. Hastings

LINCOLN - Ruth A. Hastings died at home on Saturday, September 27, 2014. She is the daughter of the late William C. and Mabel (Jones) Watkins. She was born on September 12, 1931 the eldest of thirteen children. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Hastings, Sr. She worked at Bonanza in Milford prepping food. She loved gardening, flowers and had assisted Ellendale VFC Ladies Auxiliary for many years. She is survived by two sons, Howard Hastings, Jr. and wife Wanda and John W. Hastings and wife Barbara; three grandchildren, Howard Hastings, III, John W. Hastings, Jr., and Fran A. Lecates; four great-grandchildren, Eric S. Hastings, Kelsey Marie Quillen, Clay and John Lecates; and nine siblings, Richard, Lee, Harvey, Peggy, Anna Mae, Edith, Kathy, Rosey and Sally. A funeral service will be 1 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 2, 2014 in the chapel of Berry-Short Funeral Home, 119 NW Front Street, Milford, with visitation 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2014. Interment will be in Milford Community Cemetery.
