ONAGA, Kan. - Russell F. Larimore, of Onaga, died Sunday, March 23, 2008, at his home. He was 85.
He was born Feb. 27, 1923, in Harrington, Del., son of Charles and Doris (Viohl) Larimore.
Russell was a former member of the Methodist Church and a charter member of Onaga Post 7772 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He was a self-employed painter and had served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Aleutian Islands and Puerto Rico.
Russell married Lydia M. Bonjour on March 11, 1945, at Harrington. She survives at home.
Other survivors include a son, Steve L. Larimore and wife Linda Salem, Mo.; a sister, Beatrice Harrington of Felton, Del.; three grandchildren, Christina Stark of Houston, Texas, Jesse Larimore of Salem and Josey Larimore of Goodland; one great-granddaughter, Katelyn Stark; and nieces and nephews in Delaware and Missouri.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the First Congregational United Church of Christ, Onaga.
Burial with military honors will follow in Neuchatel Cemetery.
Russell will lie in state Tuesday at Tessendorf-Chapel Oaks Funeral Home, Onaga, where family and friends will meet from 7-8 p.m.
