Ruby F. Currie, 82

MILFORD - Ruby F. Currie of Milford died Monday, March 19, 2007, at home surrounded by her family. She was 82.

Mrs. Currie was born on Oct. 24, 1924, in Big Run, Pa., daughter of the late Ralph E. and Ruby (Shaddock) Fawcett.

She was a self-employed beautician in Milford, opening her shop in 1957 and retiring from the business in 1973.

Mrs. Currie loved to read and knit but her greatest joy in life was her family to whom she was very devoted.

She was a member and past treasurer of the Order of the Eastern Star, Kent Chapter 11 in Milford and a member of the Avenue United Methodist Church in Milford and the Sarah Circle there.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Currie was preceded in death by three brothers, William Fawcett, Robert Fawcett and Frank Fawcett; and a sister, Emma Hinde.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Robert W. Currie Sr.; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Robert W. Currie Jr. and Danny and Ellen Currie, all of Milford; a daughter, Joi Currie of Milford; five grandchildren, Dwayne Currie, Scott Currie, Kimberly Currie, Jennie Currie and Jayda Currie; and a great-granddaughter, Skyler Currie.

Services will be held at 1 p.m., opening with an Order of the Eastern Star service, on Saturday at the Avenue United Methodist Church, 20 N. Church St., Milford. Friends may call two hours prior.

Burial will be held in the Milford Community Cemetery.

Instead of flowers, the family has suggested memorial contributions to the Kent Chapter 11 OES, c/o Sallie Metzner, 801 Pecan Avenue, Milford, DE, 19963; or to Avenue United Methodist Church, 20 N. Church St., Milford, DE, 19963.

Arrangements made by Rogers Funeral Home, Milford.
