Roy Thomas 'Buddy' Dawkins Jr., 73
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - Roy Thomas "Buddy" Dawkins Jr. of Fort Lauderdale died peacefully Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2007, in his home after a battle with cancer. He was 73.
Mr. Dawkins was a 1951 graduate of Dover High School, Dover, Del., and received an accounting degree from Goldey Beacom College.
He served in the military.
Mr. Dawkins was a prominent, award-winning oil paint artist known for his exquisite detail, light and realism and maintained his studio and gallery at his home. His works are also published by the New York Graphic Society as well as hung in numerous museums, galleries and public buildings as well as private homes and offices. His love was painting for the last 45 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Minnie Dawkins; and a brother, George Dawkins.
He is survived by his sisters, Ann Schuman of Northfield, N.J., and Grace Donophan of Wyoming, Del.; three nephews, Greg Donophan of Wyoming, Tom Schuman of New Jersey and George Dawkins Jr. of Dover; and a niece, Pam Nicholas of Felton.
Services will be private.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718.
