MOT opened the Senior League softball East Regional with a 6-1 victory over Stroudsburg, Pa. on Saturday.

The contest was the first of four Mid-Atlantic pool-play games that the Delaware state champions will play in the nine-team tournament being held in Worcester, Mass.

The Middletown-area squad has two games slated for Sunday. It faces New York at 1 p.m. and New Jersey at 6 p.m.

The East champion earns a berth in the Senior League World Series being played in Lower Sussex.

Junior League

Lower Sussex 13, Rhode Island 1: The Delaware state champions won their second game in a row in the East Regional on Saturday.

Lower Sussex is now 2-2 in the tournament being played in Orange, Conn.

The Sussex County squad has two games remaining in pool play. It takes on New York (0-3) on Sunday at 9:30 a.m.

Laurel 10, Maryland 0: The Sussex County picked up a shutout victory on the first day of the East Regional in DuBois, Pa. on Saturday.

Laurel next faces Connecticut on Sunday at 2 p.m.in the 11-team, double-elimination tourney.

The East champion gets a berth in the Wold Series in Taylor, Mich.
