Roundup: MOT baseball teams reach District I title games

MOT topped Milford, 8-4, on Tuesday evening to advance to the District I finals in Major League baseball.

The Middletown-area all-stars will play for the district title on Thursday when they host the championship game at 7 p.m.

MOT is 2-0 in the tourney in Little League’s division for 11-12 year olds. Middletown has won the last two district championships and 19 since 2002.

Milford (2-1) will play in the losers’ bracket on Wednesday at 7 p.m.

The winner of the district tournament moves on to the three-team state tournament, which is also being played at MOT.

District III

Lewes 3, Georgetown 2: Lewes posted the one-run win on Tuesday to reach the District III finals.

Lewes (3-0) will play in the title game on Thursday at 7 p.m. in Millsboro.

Georgetown (2-1) in the losers’ bracket finals, which are slated for Wednesday at 7 p.m.

8-10 tournament

MOT 5, Camden-Wyoming 0: MOT reached the District I title game with the victory on Wednesday.

MOT (3-0), which scored all five of its runs in the third inning, will play for the championship on Thursday at 7 p.m. at Milford.

C-W (1-1) will play in the losers’ bracket on Wednesday at 7 p.m.

The district champion earns a spot in the state tournament, which is being played at Canal.

Softball

Major League

MOT 4, Canal 3: The Middletown squad won the state title with the victory on Monday night.

MOT led 4-0 in the third inning before finishing 2-0 in the three-team tournament.

Middletown moves on to the Mid-Atlantic Regional in Bristol, Conn. where it is slated to play its opener on Sunday against New York at 10 a.m.
