Rosemary Eileen Cosgrove Vaeth, 71

CHESTERTOWN, MD - Rosemary Eileen Cosgrove Vaeth, died on Monday, Oct. 27, 2008, in her home. She was 71. Born on Aug. 15, 1937 in Johnstown, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Charles Leo and Esther Ruth (Strohmeyer) Cosgrove. She graduated from Johnstown Catholic High School in 1955. Mrs.Vaeth lived in Baltimore, Md., then moved to Salisbury, and later Pocomoke, where she raised her family. She was married to the late Michael C. Vaeth for 21 years. She was a member of the Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, the Pocomoke Garden Club, and the PTA in Pocomoke, Md. Mrs. Vaeth worked for the Maryland Department of Corrections before moving to Annapolis in 1988, where she worked with the Maryland Department of Agriculture. Mrs. Vaeth moved to Chestertown, in 1992 and worked in Annapolis and Centreville for the Maryland Department of Agriculture until her retirement. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Chestertown, Md. She was devoted to her grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her brothers, Leo Cosgrove, John Joseph Cosgrove, James Cosgrove, and Ray Cosgrove; and a sister, Ruth Rita Cosgrove. She is survived by two daughters, Ruth V. Reed of Chestertown, Md., and Rita E. Vaeth of Snow Hill, Md.; a brother, Frederick Cosgrove of New Rochelle, N.Y.; grandchildren, Rachel and Zachary Reed of Chestertown, Md.; two aunts, Rosemary Stager of Johnstown, Pa., and Lois Alexander of Windsor, Pa.; as well as four sisters-in-law, many nieces and nephews; and special friends, Dorothy, Louise, Judy, Palma, Leona, Patty, and Nancy. Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Chestertown, Md. Officiating will be Father Paul Campbell, and on Saturday, Nov. 8, 2008 at 10 a.m. at St. Columba's Catholic Church in Johnstown, Pa. Officiating Franciscan Friars OFM CONV. Burial will be held in Grandview Cemetery in Johnstown. Contributions may be made in her memory to Brothers of Holy Cross, 85 Overlook Circle, New Rochelle, NY 10804.
