Rose (DeFeo) Matricciano, 85
REHOBOTH BEACH - Rose (DeFeo) Matricciano of Rehoboth Beach passed away peacefully Monday, Feb. 5, 2007, in Harbor Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Lewes. She was 85.
She was born Aug. 24, 1921, in Philadelphia, daughter of the late Angelo and Serafina (Petillo) DeFeo.
Mrs. DeFeo attended St. Thomas Aquinas Grade School and Fleischer's Vocational School.
She was a loving daughter to her father who was widowed early in life and a loving sister to her two brothers, Frank and Joseph, both deceased. She was devoted to her husband, Frank and her two daughters, Joyce and Francine. Her two grandchildren, Krista and Jimmy Blakeslee, were the love of her life.
Rose loved to cook and be a homemaker to her family. When she was well, she loved to throw family parties and did all the cooking herself. She had the gift of hospitality and was very well organized in the kitchen.
She was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Parish, Philadelphia for 60 years. She and her husband moved to Cape May, N.J., in 1981 and were members of St. John of God Parish. In 2004, due to failing health, they moved to Rehoboth Beach to reside with their daughter, Joyce, where they were ministered to by St. Edmond's Catholic Church.
Rose is survived by her husband of 65 years, Frank; her daughters, Joyce and her husband Jim Blakeslee of Rehoboth Beach and Francine and her husband Reid Peschel of Millsboro; two grandchildren, Krista Blakeslee and Jimmy Blakeslee, both of northern Virginia; and many loving cousins, nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Friday in St. Edmond's Catholic Church, 490 King Charles Ave., Rehoboth Beach. Father James Downs, MSA, will be the celebrant. Friends may call at the church beginning at 10:30 a.m.
Internment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Cape Henlopen Food Basket, P.O. Box 567, Nassau, DE 19969.
Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, Lewes.
