MILFORD - Rose E. Davis of Milford departed this life Wednesday, March 21, 2007, in Bayhealth-Milford Memorial Hospital, after a long illness. She was 90.
She was born June 12, 1916, in Catonsville, Md., to the late Carrie and Phillip Wilkins.
Rose was raised in the Catonsville area and went to school at Joseph Lockerman in Baltimore.
She moved to Delaware in 1949 and married Joseph Davis.
Rose worked at the Clam Factory in Lewes for 25 years.
She enjoyed singing, going to church and taking care of her two children, Mildred and Niel, her grandchildren whom she raised, and her great-grandchildren. She had been a faithful a member of St. Paul AME Church, Milford, for many years, and served as an usher. She was a spirit-filled woman who loved the Lord. Rose recommitted her life to Christ a week before passing.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Mildred Townsend; and her grandchildren, George Davis, RoseMary Jinkens and Tony Davis.
Rose leaves to cherish her memories one son and his wife, Niel and Delores Davis; one granddaughter and her husband Myra and Daniel Jones; her great-grandchildren, Alvin, Anthony, Julie, Jay, Latifa and Darrell; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday in St. Paul United Methodist Church, 300 North St., Milford, where friends may view two hours prior.
Burial will be in Old Hickory Cemetery in Slaughter Neck.
