ROXANA - Ronald D. Chandler, age 75, of Roxana, died peacefully at home on Tuesday, September 1, 2015, after a short and courageous battle with cancer. He was the son of the late Wilbert T. and Pearl L. Chandler and was a life-long resident of Roxana. Ronald was retired from Bunting & Murray Construction Company. He was a retired member of the Roxana Volunteer Fire Company, where he served as Chief and Chief Engineer. He served in the Delaware National Guard at the Dagsboro Armory for eight years. He was a member of Delaware Masonic Lodge #37-A.F.&A.M. in Dagsboro; Fraternal Order of Eagles in Millville; and The Loyal Order of Moose in Roxana. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen; a brother, Dick; sisters, Christine Hudson and Odetta Tingle; and his buddy, his dog, Bo. Ronald is survived by his siblings, William of Millsboro, Gerald of West Fenwick Island, Louise Farley of Clarksville, Sandra Bowden of West Fenwick Island and Diane Holston of Georgetown; his companion, Carol Coulson; nieces, nephews, and friends in Delaware and Trails End, Virginia. Family and friends are invited to the Melson Funeral Home, 43 Thatcher Street in Frankford, for a viewing on Saturday, September 5, 2015 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., followed by the funeral at 12 p.m. The Reverend Michael Ennis officiating. Interment will be in Roxana Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963 or Roxana Volunteer Fire Company, 35943 Zion Church Rd, Frankford, DE 19945. The family welcomes relatives and friends to the Roxana Volunteer Fire Company immediately after the internment. Online condolences may be sent by visiting www.melsonfuneralservices.com.
