Romaine H. (Klein) Brodbeck, 90

LEWES - Romaine H. (Klein) Brodbeck, formerly Romaine Laird, of Lewes, passed away peacefully Sunday, Jan. 6, 2008, in Harbor Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Lewes. She was 90.

Mrs. Brodbeck, daughter of the late Edward H. and Rosena (Stahl) Klein, was born March 22, 1917, in Hughestown, Pa.

She moved to Delaware in 2002 from Silver Spring, Md.

She was born and raised in Pennsylvania.

Mrs. Brodbeck was a lifetime member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Hughestown, where she was a member of the Women's Bible Club.

A Sunday school class that she taught at St. Peter's eventually converted to an evening social club.

Mrs. Brodbeck also was a member of a Saturday Night Card Club in Hughestown.

While living in Pittston, Pa., she was a member of the YMCA where she taught swimming, gym and sewing.

Her hobbies included sewing, gardening and canning.

While living in Delaware, Mrs. Brodbeck was spiritually administered to by St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Ocean City, Md.

During her retirement years, she enjoyed living at Aspenwood Independent Living, Silver Spring, Md., and Brandywine Assisted Living in Rehoboth Beach.

Mrs. Brodbeck was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who loved being with people and will be missed by all who knew her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Paul Laird, in 1974; her second husband Arthur Brodbeck, in 1988; four brothers, Lester, Arthur, Charles and Kenneth Klein; and one sister, Marjorie Perrotti.

She is survived her sister, Violet Williams of Hughestown; two daughters, Barbara L. Fadden and her husband John of Fenwick Island and Myrna L. Regardie and her husband Michael of Silver Spring; four grandchildren, Scott Fadden and his wife Melissa, Shawn Fadden and his wife Melanie, Nick Regardie and his wife Jenn and Karen Regardie; and four great-grandchildren, Berkleigh, Gus, Max and Foster Fadden.

A memorial service will be noon Friday in St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 10301 Coastal Highway, Ocean City.

A graveside service will be held later in January at Memorial Shrine Cemetery, Wyoming, Pa.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to St. Peter's Lutheran Church Building Fund, 10301 Coastal Highway, Ocean City, MD 21842; or to St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 100 Rock St., Hughestown, PA 18640.
