Robert Lloyd Creeden Sr., 66 GREENWOOD - Robert Lloyd Creeden Sr., of Greenwood,died Thursday, Aug. 28, 2008, at home surrounded by his loving family. He was 66. Mr. Creeden was born in Goshen, N.Y., the son of the late Russell and Lucy (DeWitt) Creeden. Robert joined the U.S. Navy in 1960 and was an electronics technician serving for 20 years before retiring in 1980. After his retiring, Bob and his family bought a farm in Greenwood where they raised chickens for 10 years. Robert went to work as a correctional officer for the Delaware Department of Corrections at S.C.I. in Georgetown for 13 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He loved fishing and going out every so often in his boat. Robert loved watching television and was a big trivia buff. He was also an avid reader of westerns and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles. He was a member of St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, Milford. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Margaret J. Creeden; three brothers, Russell, Ernest, and Donald Creeden; and his brother-in-law, Allen Minich. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Marie Creeden; a son, Robert L. Creeden Jr. and his wife Donna of Houston; two daughters, Peggy Baker of Greenwood and Jessica Baker and her husband Wayne of Felton; one brother, Eugene Creeden and his wife Lillian of Schenectady, N.Y.; two sisters, Julia Kowal and her husband Walter of Pine Island, N.Y., and Lucy Minich, of Seaford; three sisters-in-law, Marie Creeden of Middletown, N.Y., Gloria Creeden of Cincinnatus, N.Y., and Lou Ann Creeden of Laurelville, Ohio; 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and his three dogs, Cricket, Cheeks, and Puddles. Mass of Christian Burial was offered in St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, 506 Seabury Ave., Milford. Burial with Military Honors will be in Milford Community Cemetery, U.S. 113, Milford. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to either St. John's Building Fund, 506 Seabury Avenue, Milford, DE 19963; or to Vitas Hospice, 100 Commerce Drive, Suite 302, Newark, DE 19713.
