MAGNOLIA - Robert L. Hastings of Irish Hill Road, Magnolia, passed away Monday, May 28, 2007, in Capital Nursing Center, Dover. He was 85.
He was born on April 5, 1922, in Greensboro, Md. to the late Robert and Mabel Shull Hastings.
Robert was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II with service in Panama.
After returning from the service he married his wife, Isabel.
He was self employed and always had a hammer and nail in his hand. He enjoyed micro racing, building and racing with his son.
He enjoyed working in his yard and stopping and talking with the guys at R E Michael"s.
He took great pride in his family and home.
He loved teaching his "Grands" about life.
He did not rest at night till he knew all was well.
He is preceded in death by four sisters, Clara West, Mary Jenner, Laura Oliver, and Roberta Couch.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Isabel Hastings of Magnolia; son, Weston Hastings of White Deer, Pa.; daughter and her husband, Bonnie and Duane Preisen of Magnolia; granddaughters, Karen Irvine and Kimberly and her husband, Tom Feller; grandsons, Kevin Pertruzzi and Robert L. and his son, Katrina Pertruzzi; and five great-grandchildren.
Remembrance services will be held 11 a.m., Friday in Trader Funeral Home in Dover.
Burial will be at the Greensboro Cemetery Greensboro, Md.
Friends may call also Friday one hour before the time of the services at the Trader Funeral Home in Dover.
The family request that memorial contributions be given to Alzheimer"s Association Delaware Chapter, 2306 Kirkwood Hwy., Wilmington, DE 19805.
