
Robert H. Wikso Sr., Msgt USAF, Retired, 85
Robert H. Wikso Sr. passed away peacefully surrounded by his children on October 26, 2021 at Bayhealth Kent General Hospital in Dover, Delaware.
Robert was born on January 9, 1936 in Brooklyn, New York, to the late, Anne M. (Johannessen) and Olav S. Wikso. He proudly served the United States Air Force in active duty and reserve duty for a total of 30 years. He was a C-5 Flight Engineer. Following his military career, he was employed by Flight Safety and Flight Safety Services Corporation. While employed he completed his college education graduating with a BA in History at Delaware State College. He served part time as a bus driver for Dawson Bus Service in Camden, Delaware. He was a member of The Air Mobility Command Museum (Librarian) at Dover Air Force Base, Del. for more than 20 years, the Air Force Sergeant's Association, the VFW Post 3238 and the 20th MAS Alumni Association.
In addition to his parents; he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 59 years, Ann (Karlson); a brother, James O.; sister, Joyce I.; and daughter, Debra L. Minor.
Robert is survived by three children, Robert H. Jr. (Pauline), Richard G. and Donna L. Wikso-Joiner (Wayne); five grandchildren, Leigh (Ben), Ryan (Julie), Eric (Diane), Jamie (Stephen) and Michael; and 15 great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will take place at Pippin Funeral Home, 119 West Camden Wyoming Avenue, Wyoming, Delaware 19934 on Friday November 5, 2021 at 6 p.m. Friends may gather at 5 p.m. A reception will follow at Christ Memorial Baptist Church, 1160 E. Lebanon Rd., Dover, DE 19901.
