Robert 'Bob' Gillette, 66

MILFORD - Robert "Bob" Gillette, of Milford, died Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2009, in Bayhealth-Milford Memorial Hospital. He was 66. Bob was born in Harrington and raised by his grandparents, Oscar and Cornelia Gillette. Bob was a Police Officer with Milford Police Dept. for 15 years, Major Distributors for five years and Milton Police Dept. for six months. He was a member of the American Legion Post 3 and Milford Elks 2401 and former member of Carlisle Fire Dept. Bob was very involved with activities in and around Milford, including basketball at Milford Parks and Recreation, Milford Little League and Pop Warner football. He also served as Milford City Councilman for four years. He was a Navy Veteran. Bob is survived by his wife of 44 years, Betty J. (Crouse) Gillette, daughter, Robin Parson and fiancé Sam Crawford of Milford; two grandchildren, Cory and Makayla Parson; a sister, Carol Zanelotte of Buffalo, N.Y., and many friends. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 18, 2009, in the chapel of Berry-Short Funeral Home, 119 NW Front St., Milford where friends may call after 1 p.m. Burial will be in Milford Community Cemetery, Milford. Flowers are accepted or contributions can be made to Cedar Neck Church, c/o 3414 McColley Road, Milford, DE 19963 or Milford Elks Youth Fund, P.O. Box 63, Milford, DE 19963.
