Robert E. Eberly

DOVER - Robert E. Eberly of Dover, died on Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2014. Bob was the widowed husband of Marian F. Eberly, his wife of 60 years. He was a Veteran of World War II, serving the U. S. Navy in the Pacific. He retired from Civil Service as the Sheet Metal Shop foreman at the Dover Air Force Base after more than 30 years of service. Following this retirement, he continued to work part-time as an instructor for the Delaware State Fire School for more than 15 years. Bob participated actively in various community services for nearly 50 years. He donated time and effort to: the Camden-Wyoming Lions Club, the Wyoming Methodist Church, the Camden-Wyoming Volunteer Fire Department, and the Robbins Hose Company of Dover. Bob enjoyed dancing, bowling, golf, fishing, hunting, and making friends. He is survived by his sister, Phyllis Kelly; daughter, Beth Twardowski; son, Barry Eberly; grandchildren, Lisa Sanderson, Adrienne Leighton, David Twardowski, Jessica Poe and Sarah Eberly; and six great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be 1 p.m., Monday, Jan. 6, 2014 at the Wyoming United Methodist Church, 216 Wyoming Mill Road, Dover. Burial will be private at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear. Floral arrangements are welcome. In lieu of flowers, donations to the volunteer Fire Department of your choice would also be appreciated.
