Robert Cressman Stackhouse, 87

FELTON - Robert Cressman Stackhouse of Felton died peacefully Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2006, in the home of his son and daughter-in-law surrounded by his loving family. He was 87.

Mr. Stackhouse was born in Ridley Township, Pa.

He served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Bogue in World War II where he was a plane captain.

He was a steelworker for Belmont Iron for 19 years and then worked at Westinghouse until his retirement in 1975.

Mr. Stackhouse was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Chester, the American Legion, Marcus Hook, Pa., and a member of the Eagles Club, Marcus Hook.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Perry and Anne (Simpson) Stackhouse; his foster father who raised him, Al Cunnins; his wife, Anna Marie (Leonard) Stackhouse, in 1995; and four sisters.

He is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Robert E. Stackhouse of Wilmington, and Gary B. and Helen Stackhouse of Felton; a daughter and a son-in-law, Patricia A. and William Spangler of Marcus Hook; 17 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Services will be 11 a.m. Friday in Moreland-Pagano Funeral Home, 825 Main St., Trainer, Pa., where friends may call one hour earlier.

Burial will be in Lawn Croft Cemetery, Linwood, Pa.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical and Regional Office, 1601 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE 19805-4988; or Disabled American Veterans, P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301 Attn: Gift Processing.
