Robert Allen Taylor Sr.

DOVER - Robert Allen Taylor Sr., died Sunday, Nov. 10, 2013 at his home in Dover with family by his side. He was born to the late Dallas B. and Alice W. Taylor, June 24, 1920 in Sibley Iowa. He was the oldest of six children. Robert graduated from Iowa State University with a B.S. in horticulture. He served in the Naval Air Corp during World War II for 4.5 years. He was Captain of the PBY flying boat during the time of service. He married Suzonne Berry Stewart of Memphis, Tenn., in 1946 and lived together in Greenville, S.C., before relocating to Dover in 1969. Robert retired from agri business in 1990. He was passionate about aviation and the outdoors. He was a master gardener, a member of the Audubon Club, the Arbor Day Foundation, and a very skilled hunter and fisherman. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son, Robert Allen Taylor Jr.; and his three brothers, Donald, Howard, and Raymond Taylor. He is survived by his wife, Suzonne Taylor; and daughter, Suzonne Jr.; his two grandsons, Nathan and Adam Taylor; two sisters, Ann Hansen of Bloomfield Hills, Mich. and Wanda Eninger of Spencer, Iowa. Service will be held 11:00 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 18, 2013, at Christ Episcopal Church, 501 S. State Street, Dover. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to National Brain Tumor Society, The Curtis Center, 601 Walnut Street, Suite 955W, Philadelphia, PA 19106, in remembrance of his son.
