DOVER - Richard "Dick" Otto Juhrden passed away at his home in Dover, on May 10, 2018.
Dick was born in New Jersey on Oct. 21, 1938 to Roberta and Otto Juhrden. He graduated from Clifton High School in 1956 and went on to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Newark College of Engineering graduating in 1960.
Through the course of his career, Dick worked for Atlas Chemical, Imperial Chemical Industries and retired from AstraZeneca in 1991.
Dick enjoyed sailing, ballroom dancing, genealogy and was a talented artist. He was the President of USA Dance Chapter #6067 (Dover) from 2010 to 2013. After his service as President, he continued on with the board serving as Webmaster and participated with the yearly Delaware Dancing with the Stars fundraiser for Mom's House in Dover.
Dick also had an interest in theater and the performing arts. He performed with the Possum Point Players in a musical, The Hit Parade, in 2011. Dick very much enjoyed going to listen to the Baltimore Symphony when they were playing at Chesapeake College in Wye Mills, Md. as well as going to Longwood Gardens. You could also find him practicing Tai Chi at Rigby's Karate Academy and performing demonstrations at events around town.
Out of all his accomplishments in life, he was most proud of his grandchildren.
Dick is survived by his daughter, Donna Juhrden Lawson; son-in-law, David G. Lawson; daughter, Kelly Ann Juhrden-Ramey; son-in-law, William P. Ramey, III; and his grandchildren, Zachary David Lawson and Alexa Grace Ramey. He was predeceased by his son, Robert Richard Juhrden.
