John Orr, 60 BOWERS BEACH - Richard (Rick) John Orr of Bowers Beach, passed away Thursday, June 9th 2016. Rick was born on October 30th, 1955 and grew up in Leominster, Mass. He enlisted in the United States Air Force as a young man and served for over 20 years and considered his service, including serving during the Gulf War, as one of the major highlights of his life. He took great pride in serving his country. He obtained the rank of Master Sergeant, working as a flight engineer. Rick was awarded many medals in his time of service for his achievements from the USAF and also from other countries such as Kuwait and Saudi Arabia. He retired honorably. He was an employee of the USPS at the time of his passing, having worked there for close to 15 years. Rick loved reading and watching documentaries about history, traveling, antique cars, drawing, pancakes, and his friends and family. He was a devoted friend and father and will be missed greatly. He is predeceased by his wife Mary Elizabeth (Clark). He is survived by his daughter, Katy Orr of Bowers Beach; his best friend and brother, James Stuart of Gordonsville, Va.; and his goddaughter, Ceciley Stuart of Charlottesville, Va. His funeral service will be at the Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (Route 10), Dover, on Saturday, July 2nd at 1:00 p.m. Rick will be buried at Arlington National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Homes For Our Troops at www.hfotusa.org Letters of condolences may be sent and guest book signed at www.torbertfuneral.com.
