BRIDGEVILLE - Richard Layton (Pops) Melson, 65, of Bridgeville, died suddenly Sunday, March 6, 2011. Born June 11, 1945, in Lewes, he was the son of Donald Melson and Ruth Melson. Rick was a graduate of Fishburne Military School. He loved fishing with his boys, watching football, and playing horseshoes. Rick was an avid history enthusiast. Rick is survived by his four children, Christian Melson of Dover, Jeremy Melson of Dover, Michael Melson and his wife Sandra of Seaford, and Janet Taylor-McDowell and her husband Edward of Newark. He is also survived by a sister, Ruth Ann Melson of Dover; six grandkids and three nieces. At the request of "Pops" there will be no memorial services held. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation be made to a charity of your choice in his memory.
