DOVER, DE - Richard James Hudson passed away Monday, April 10, 2023.
He was born April 28, 1924, in Upper Nyack, New York, to the late John N. Hudson and Ada Richardson.
Mr. Hudson served the United States Navy as Motor Machinist's Mate First Class on LCI #551. He was a WWII Veteran, serving during the Normandy, France invasion on D=Day landing troops on Utah Beach. He also participated in the landings in the South of France, North Africa and Italy and was later sent to the Pacific prior to the wars end. He received the following medals: Good Conduct, European African Middle Eastern 2 stars, Asiatic-Pacific, American Theater and Victory. He worked in the aircraft industry for many years, as well as Golden Pride Poultry as a Purchasing Agent. He was a master woodworker. He enjoyed music, good food (especially desserts), surf fishing and the warm weather in Florida.
In addition to his parents; he was preceded in death by his wife, Regina Banovic Hudson in 2009; as well as his six siblings.
Mr. Hudson is survived by his son, Gary Hudson and his wife, Karen of Frederica, Delaware; his daughters, Nancy Hudson of Fairfax, Virginia, and Patrice Couts of St. Augustine, Florida; nine grandchildren: Amber, Timothy, Sarah, Rhiana, Diana, Sean, Lydia, Rebecca and Michael; also, eight great-grandchildren: Marc, Bryson, Chase, Emelia, Brant, Theo, Caden and Delana; and several nieces and nephews.
