HARRINGTON - Richard I. Lawson, of Harrington formerly of Newark, passed away on Saturday, Jul. 1, 2017, from the Country Rest Home of Greenwood. Mr. Lawson was born in Newark to the late Edgar and Florence R. Lawson.
Mr. Lawson served his country proudly in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. Once he was discharged, he worked his entire life as a truck driver, driving for various companies throughout the years.
When he was not busy working, Mr. Lawson enjoyed walking his dog and spending time with family and friends. He will be remembered as fun loving, very independent, and one who always spoke his mind whether it was good or bad. He was always willing to have a good time, and will be sadly missed.
Mr. Lawson belonged to the VFW, American Legion, and the Harrington Moose Lodge.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine Lawson.
He is survived by his son, Richard "Mike" Lawson; daughters, Tish Lawson and Kelly Lawson; sister, Joan (Bill) Kisner; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
Any donations can be made to the Mid-Atlantic Westie Rescue.
Arrangements are by the Thomas E. Melvin & Son Funeral Home Inc., Harrington. Visit us at www.melvinfuneralhome.com to send flowers or sign condolence book.
