MILFORD - Richard Hugh McCarthy, 74, of Milford, passed away Wednesday, March 9, 2011, in Milford. He was the son of the late Leo J. and Carmen V. (Newcomb) McCarthy. Hugh was a devoted family man and treasured every minute he spent with them. He was very active in civic organizations and the Church in the communities he resided in. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, William and Robert McCarthy. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Donna; two sons, Kevin Michael McCarthy and his wife Tracy of Syracuse, N.Y., and Richard Hugh McCarthy Jr. and his wife Kirsten of Endwell, N.Y.; one daughter, Karen Marie McCarthy, of Huntington, N.Y.; one sister, Margaret M. McCarthy of Elmira, N.Y.; and one brother, James F. McCarthy, of Syracuse, N.Y.; and six grandchildren, Jennifer McCarthy, Sean McCarthy, Caitlin McCarthy, Alicia McCarthy, Lauren McCarthy and Madeline McCarthy. Memorial services are planned for the Spring and will be announced at a later date.
