THE VILLAGES, Fla. - Richard H. "Dick" McCarty, of The Villages, died Thursday, Sept. 18, 2008. He was 78. Mr. McCarty was born in Hammond, Ind. and moved to The Villages from Smyrna, Del., in 2002. He had also lived in Dover and Milford, Del. He was retired after 35 years as a chemical engineer for General Foods Corp., served in the U.S. Navy, was a National Vice-President of the American Heart Association, was a member of the OBG Lions Club, enjoyed playing golf and doing volunteer work. He attended St. Albans Anglican Church, Lady Lake. Survivors include his wife, Peggy; daughters, Kathy A. Morrow, Millerstown, Pa., and Nancy A. Sutton, Leesburg, Va.; sister, Sonia M. Lewey, Wilmington, Ill.; and five grandchildren. A memorial service will 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 12, at St. Andrew's Lutheran Church, Dover, Del. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Andrew's Lutheran Church, 425 N. DuPont Hwy, Dover, DE 19901 or the American Heart Association, Delaware Chapter, 1096 Old Churchmans' Road, Newark, DE 19713-2137.
