DOVER - Richard Frank Fleig Sr. of Dover died Monday, July 23, 2007, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover. He was 72.

Mr. Fleig was born Nov. 9, 1934, in Neustadt, Germany, to the late Bernhard and Maria (Goverville) Fleig.

He served in the U.S. Army, 11th and 82nd Air Borne Divisions, during the Korean War.

Mr. Fleig worked for the Grumman Aircraft Corp. on Long Island, N.Y., and was an inspector for the Lunar Lander. He also worked for the Department of Parks and Recreation as a supervisor.

He was a member of the Korean War Veterans in Dover.

Mr. Fleig was an accomplished skier, sailor and sculptor.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Gisela K. Fleig of Dover; his daughter, Anne G. Rinzel and her husband Dan of Alexandria, Va.; his son, Richard F. Fleig Jr. and his wife Carline of Portsmouth, R.I.; his sisters, Lydia Schmidt and Claire Benz, both of Germany; and three grandchildren, Brock, Adam and Tyler.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Monday at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 631 S. State St., Dover. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road, Dover. Interment will be in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Patriots Way, Millsboro.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the American Cancer Society, 92 Reads Way, Suite 205, New Castle, DE 19720; Delaware Hospice, 911 S. DuPont Highway, Dover, DE 19810; or to a favorite charity.
