Richard Andrew Patterson Jr., 77

SAN JOSE, Calif. - Richard Andrew Patterson Jr. passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2007, in San Jose, surrounded by his wife, daughter and son-in-law. He was 77.

He was born Jan. 18, 1930, in Bowers Beach, Del.

He graduated from Caesar Rodney High School and lived most of his life in the Dover, Del., area until moving with his wife to Georgia 18 years ago.

One year ago they moved to California to be near their daughter and family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Lillian Patterson; and his sister, Jane Tieman.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Kathryn; daughter, Becky Kompelien and her husband Kevin; grandchildren, Ruth Zylka and her husband Kyle, Bradley Kompelien, Brent Kompelien and his wife Sarah, and Gregory Kompelien; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Jan. 6 in Barratt's Chapel, 6362 Bay Road, Frederica.

Interment will follow the service at Barratt's Chapel Cemetery.

The family requests that memorial gifts be given to provide Bibles for the church in Congo, Africa. Memorial gifts should be written to EFCA ReachGlobal, designated for "Bibles for Congo Account No. 22109-0905" and sent to EFCA ReachGlobal, Donor Services, 901 E. 78th Street, Minneapolis, MN 55420.
