Raymond James Chance, affectionately known as "Chubb Rock, Chubby, or just Chubb," was born on Sept. 8, 1968 in Dover. He was the son of Helen M. Chance and the late Eugene Chance Sr. He departed this life peacefully at his home on Jan. 6, 2018.
Raymond worked faithfully at Perdue, then at Berry Van Lines. Recently, he was known for his infectious smile as the Produce Man, at Camden [DE] Wal-Mart. His compassion and empathy for those in need left a lasting impression with anyone he came in contact with.
Raymond was a gentle guy with a big heart. He was extremely devoted to the care and well-being of his mother. She was the start and finish of his every day. He was a devoted uncle and father-figure to his nephew, Tyre' Wayman, whom he raised like a son, and took great pride in the success of all of his nieces and nephews. Family meant everything to Raymond.
Raymond was preceded in death by his father, Eugene Chance Sr.; and his niece, Nicole Stevenson.
He leaves to cherish his memories his loving mother, Helen M. (Baynard) Chance; and a loving fiancé', Sharonda Miles. He is also survived by his siblings, Ethel (Erik) Donaldson, Eugene (Nadine) Chance, Amelia Chance and Ella Chance. He also leaves behind a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, many of which he grew up with like siblings.
Funeral Service to be held at Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden Wyoming Avenue, Wyoming, DE 19934 on Sunday, Jan. 14, 2018 at 3 p.m. Viewing from 1 to 3 p.m.
