Raymond D. Hall, III, 81
Raymond Hall passed away peacefully in his home on November 1st, 2021, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Dover, Delaware on January 28th, 1940.
He is survived by his wife, Jeanette; children, Dewayne (son) and T. C. Hall, Debbie (daughter) and Tommy Rose, Raymond Hall (son) and Linda, Elva (daughter) and Dale Hickman, and Robin (daughter) and Joel Dahlgren; and his sisters, Nancy, Sandy, and Gaye. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brother and best friend, Ronnie Hall.
Raymond was a real-life Lone Ranger growing up. He named his favorite horse Silver. However, the Lone Ranger couldn't stay alone very long. At 18, he began frequenting the Dairy Sweet in Smyrna, for more reasons than one. A pretty curb girl named Jeanette caught his eye. Raymond and Jeanette were together ever since, having been married for 62 years.
Raymond had many talents. He loved his life's work in construction, welding, and building several bridge s across the state. He worked his way up to a superintendent and ran a tight ship. He was known as "The Bear" because of his tough demeanor. He kept this nickname until his employees learned that one Friday night, he used his paycheck to buy toys for his five children, thus earning the new nickname "Teddy Bear". He was an avid coon hunter, reporting the occasional sighting of Bigfoot on his hunts. He had a gift for storytelling. Every Christmas Eve, large crowds would gather to listen to his tales. His happiness was being with his family, finding joy in the simple things in life. Raymond was a friend to everyone he met. In the words of his brother Ronnie: "Everybody loves Raymond."
