Col. Ralph H.Lane Jr., 85

DOVER - Col. Ralph H. Lane Jr. of Dover died Sunday, June 3, 2007, in his home. He was 85.

Col. Lane was born Oct. 8, 1921, in Manchester, Mass., son of the late Ralph H. and Lillian Cross Lane.

He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps and the U.S. Air Force, retiring in 1971 after 30 years of service.

Col. Lane was a member of Capitol Baptist Church, Dover, a former member of the American Legion in Manchester, Mass., and loved his family dearly.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, William and Dana G. Lane.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Barbara Stubbs Lane of Dover; a son, Douglas E. Lane of Warner Robins, Ga.; three daughters, Glenda Lane Smith of Nokesville, Va., Sterling M. Williamson of Pulaski, N.Y., and Marilyn M. Barton of Clifton, Va.; two sisters, Margaret L. Stubbs of Alexandria, Va., and Doris M. Perry of San Diego; 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews who were dearly loved.

Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Capitol Baptist Church, 401 Kesselring Ave., Dover.

Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery, Pleasant Street Extended, Manchester.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to American Heart Association, 1151 Walker Road, Suite 202, Dover, DE 19904.
