R. Julian Davis Sr., 93
CHESTERTOWN, Md. - R. Julian Davis Sr., of Chestertown, died Monday, May 26, 2008, in Chestertown Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Chestertown. He was 93.
Mr. Davis was born Nov. 27, 1914, in Cecil County, son of the late James H. and Asa Lynam Davis.
He owned and operated a dairy and grain farm in Galena for many years.
He was an excellent carpenter, hand-crafting furniture including grandfather and wall clocks.
Mr. Davis was a member of Olivet United Methodist Church and for 25 years the Galena Lions Club.
In 1984 he moved to Chestertown.
He was preceded by his first wife of 45 years, Helen Fogwell Davis, in 1982; a son, R. Julian Davis Jr.; his siblings, Elmer and Walter Davis, Elizabeth Pratt and Helen Weldie; and stepson, Thomas H.U. Fletcher.
Mr. Davis is survived by his second wife of 24 years, Naomi Fletcher Davis; two daughters, Ann D. Llewelyn of Louisville, Miss., and Patricia D. Kesmodel and her husband Paul of Duluth, Ga.; two stepdaughters, Pricilla Wright and her husband Michael and Janice Fletcher, all of Chestertown; six grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday in the Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L. Schaech, 118 W. Cross St., where friends may call one hour prior.
Burial will be in Galena Cemetery.
Memorials may be offered to Salem United Methodist Church, 23055 Parsons Road, Chestertown, MD 21620.
