LEWES - R. Brent Swope passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, Jul. 6, 2017.
Mr. Swope was born in Harrisburg, Pa. to the late Robert and Mary (Gutknecht) Swope. Mr. Swope was a retired Lt. Col. in the Army Reserves and operated Swope Insurance Agency. He was a member of Crossroad Community Church where he served as an usher, lifetime member of the Lion's Club, past president of the Rockville Lion's Club, a volunteer for Jusst Sooup, and a school bus driver for the School Mule bus company.
He is survived by his wife, Mariann (Majzer) Swope; children, Jason and Debbi Gresty of Edgewater, Md., Justin and Andrea Swope of Lawrenceville, Ga., and Lauren and Brett Mitchell of Baltimore, Md.; sister Jocelyn Zimmerman of Watsontown, Pa.; five grandchildren, Ashton and Riley Gresty, Charlie and Charlotte Swope, Jackson Mitchell, and one more on the way.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, Jul. 12, 2017, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 609 E. Market St., Georgetown, DE 19947. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, Jul. 13, 2017, at 3 p.m. at Crossroad Community Church, 20684 State Forest Rd., Georgetown, DE 19947. Burial will be private.
