SEAFORD - Phyllis Kay Newton departed this life on Friday, Jan. 6, 2017, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital in Philadelphia, Pa. Born in Seaford, she was the daughter of the late William M. Smith and Mary L. Hughes Smith. Ms. Newton was a member of Macedonia A.M.E. Church where she served as the Choir President. Prior to retiring, she was employed by Century Seals, Inc. She will be lovingly remembered by one daughter, Tammy Newton; four brothers, William Smith, Roy Smith, Bruce Smith, and Ricky Smith; one sister, Rosemary Martin; two special nephews, Troy Smith and Dale Smith; one special niece, LaShonda Hunter; a host of other nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Ms. Newton will lie in repose on Saturday, Jan. 14, 2017, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Macedonia A.M.E. Church, 431 North Street, Seaford. The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. Rev. Teasha Miller will be the Officiating Pastor and Eulogist. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. A ministry of comfort and dignity is being provided by Lewis N.
