DOVER - Phyllis Jean Friday, of Dover, passed away at home on November 25, 2011, surrounded by her family. She was 79. Phyllis was born to, Royal Lee and Sarah Boyer in Dover, Delaware in 1932. She grew up in Dover with her sister, Iris Lee, graduated from Dover High School in 1950, and married Airman Adolph L. Friday, Jr. in 1956. After travelling the world together, they returned to Dover to raise their five children, Lewis and wife Natalie, Rebecca Miller and husband Scott, Paul, Kimberly Taylor and husband Adam, and Karen Randall and husband James. Phyllis was a woman of great faith who loved God and was deeply devoted to her husband and family. She especially adored, and was adored by, her grandchildren, Adam and wife Autumn, Cory, Steven, Julia, Joshua, Sarah, Laura, Grace, Jennifer, Lauren, Megan, Adam Jr. and wife Michelle, Angel, Jack, Sam, Ella, Josiah, Peter, Abigail, Leah; and one great-grandson, Noah. They will forever remember her as their Oma, as will many other close friends and loved ones. Phyllis could always be counted on to offer a friendly smile for her family, friends, neighbors, and fellow church members of St. Andrew's Lutheran Church of Dover. She always had a cup of coffee, a delicious meal, a glass of wine, and a warm conversation to share. After a life well lived, she is now in the presence of her Savior. She is healthy, whole, and she has been reunited with her loved ones who have gone before her particularly her parents and her loving husband, Adolph. For the tremendous service and loving care they have provided, the family suggests contributions be made in her honor to Delaware Hospice, 3515 Silverside Road, Suite 100, Wilmington, DE 19810. Contributions may also be made to the Pastoral Fund at St. Andrew's Lutheran Church in Dover, DE. Friends may call Monday, November 28, at Torbert's Funeral Home, 1145 E. Lebanon Road, Dover, DE 19904 from 6 to 8 p.m. Services will be held Tuesday, November 29, 2011, at St. Andrew's Lutheran Church, 425 N. DuPont Highway at 11 a.m. Letters of condolence may be sent, and guestbook signed at torbertfuneral.com.
