GREENWOOD - Phyllis Fay Downes, of Greenwood, passed away on Friday, March 23, 2012, at Milford Memorial Hospital. She was 75. She was born in Greenwood, the daughter of the late Montilles J. Webb Sr. and Anna (Wharton) Webb. She loved to work in her garden, enjoyed reading and hunting when she was younger. She also raised show chickens and was a member of the Delmarva Poultry Fanciers. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Downes; her son, Robert Downes Jr.; and five brothers and sisters. Mrs. Downes is survived by her grandchildren, Jonathan Downes and his wife Amber of Greenwood, and William Jerread III of Seaford; one great-grandson, Jonathan Downes Jr. of Greenwood; and one sister, Melba Webb of Greenwood. A funeral services will be noon, Thursday, March 29, 2012, in the chapel of Berry-Short Funeral Home, 119 NW Front Street, Milford, where friends may call after 11 a.m.
