MIDDLETOWN — MOT blanked Naamans, 3-0, on Saturday to capture the state championship in Major League baseball.
The Middletown-area all-stars went 2-0 in the tournament in Little League’s age division for 11-12 year-olds.
MOT moves on to the Mid-Atlantic Regional, which starts next Saturday in Bristol, Conn.
It is the second-straight year that MOT has won the state title and the seventh time since 2007. Only two Delaware squads have ever reached the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pa.
MOT baseball and softball teams have now won five state championships this summer.
Winning pitcher Billy Windley threw a three-hitter, striking out 10 and walking only one to earn the shutout.
Windley also doubled and scored a run in the first inning before hitting a sacrifice fly to bring home a run in the third. Dawson Soldo went 3-for-3.
MOT is now 5-0 in all-star tournaments with three shutouts.
