MIDDLETOWN — MOT blanked Camden-Wyoming, 4-0, in seven innings on Thursday night to capture the District I title in Major League baseball
The Middletown-area all-stars finished 3-0 in the tourney in Little League’s division for 11-12 year olds.
MOT has won three district titles in a row and 20 since 2002. Middletown out-scored its three opponents by a 22-4 margin.
Thursday’s contest was scoreless until MOT scored all four of its runs in the top of the seventh. Liem Fitzgerald had a two-run single in the inning while Billy Windley pitched a four-hitter with nine strikeouts and no walks.
The defending state champion, MOT is also hosting the state tournament, which begins on July 24.
Camden-Wyoming, which won three-straight games in the losers’ bracket, finishes with a record 4-2 in the tournament.
District III
Milton 6, Lewes 5: Milton forced a second game for the District III title with the win on Thursday night.
The two teams will meet again on Friday at 7 p.m. at Millsboro with the winner representing Sussex County in the state tournament.
