Pedro 'Pete' Aduna De Leon Jr., 70

MILLSBORO - Pedro "Pete" Aduna De Leon Jr., of Millsboro, died Sunday, Jan. 4, 2009, at Peninsula Regional Medical Center, Salisbury, Md. He was 70. Pete was born in Philadelphia, Pa., the son of the late Pedro and Violet Rose (Brown) De Leon. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving during 1956 to 1961. He was manager for the Thriftway and Safeway stores for 25 years, retiring in 1992. He was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Georgetown, Exalted Ruler of the Seaford Elks Lodge, Georgetown Lions Club, and Franklin Masonic Lodge 12 in Georgetown. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Joan De Leon; and brother, Richard De Leon. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Sylvia Hughes De Leon; three children, Mark De Leon and his wife Marilyn of Windsor, Vt., Elaina Bowersox and her husband Wade of Bethel, and Brian De Leon and his wife Kelly of Georgetown; one brother, Michael D. De Leon and his wife Karen of Greensboro, N.C.; five grandchildren, Michael Waggner, Jeffery Waggner, Michelle Waggner, Lane De Leon and Trace De Leon. Funeral Services will be noon Friday, Jan. 9, in St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, 202 Edward Street, Georgetown, where friends may call after 11 a.m. Interment will be in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro. Contributions may be made to: The American Heart Assoc., 1019 Mattlind Way, Milford, DE 19963. Arrangements handled by Short Funeral Services, Georgetown.
