Pearl Morris passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, February 22, 2023 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on January 20, 1926 to Charles and Irma Phillips in Gumboro, Delaware.
After marrying Granville Morris in 1946, she started working at the Laurel Shirt Factory and then later left to become a homemaker and care for her family. Then she started hanging wallpaper for many years throughout the local area. After retiring, she worked with several children at Epworth Christian School. She was an avid gardener and loved preparing family dinners. Her family meant everything to her. She was a member of Epworth Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school and played the piano. She also was a founding member of Epworth Fellowship Church and later Central Worship Center.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Irma Phillips; her husband of 44 years, Granville Morris; baby sister, Thelma Phillips; sister, Madelyn Hudson; and daughter-in-law, Ruby Morris.
She is survived by her son, Charles Morris (Dianne); daughter, Thelma Jean Brock (Freddie); and son, Chester Morris (Terri) all of Laurel; six grandchildren, Kevin Brock (Debbie), Keith Brock (Crystal), Amy Bowles (Danny), Chad Morris (Jerica), Brett Morris (Amanda), and Grant Morris; ten great-grandchildren also survive her.
Special thanks to Connie, Kim and Gail for their exceptional loving care for our mother, and also a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Karnish and his staff.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, March 1, 2023 at Central Worship Center, 14545 Sycamore Road, Laurel, Delaware 19956. A visitation will be held from 11am-1pm. Pastor Tim Dukes will officiate. Interment will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Laurel.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to Central Worship Center 14545 Sycamore Road, Laurel, Delaware 19956 or to Epworth Christian School, 14511 Sycamore Road, Laurel, Delaware 19956.
Online condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.hsdfuneralhome.com.
